I’m a guy, and in a relationship that’s lasted over, which is long for me being a teenager. My only other one was several years, grew up with her, but that’s the past. Anyway I am curious Dr. D, and I am not trying to be mean or anything, I am genuine about this question. Don’t you think flirting is a bit wrong if it’s done intentionally in relationships or something? Me and my girlfriend agreed it’s cool to flirt so long as it doesn’t go anywhere with others. Also, isn’t it manipulative?

I’m also curious, why flirt? Why not just get straight to it? If I notice a girl is flirting with me or something, half the time I end up being kind of rude, not intentionally, but it just bothers me that they flirt, but then if I address them like, hey are you flirting with me or something, they get offended. I’m sure sometimes they actually aren’t flirting I don’t mind, I just think why deny it? Why beat around the bush? What’s the point in flirting? I just find it manipulative and misleading.

@JimMorrisonAbrams girls like to play, and they want to “test the water” out before committing to a relationship. in other words, they don’t want to fuck you and later end up knowing you were a huge mistake! but everything’s a mistake to them…

@JimMorrisonAbrams Okay, since I’m a girl I may be able to explain. When a girl is looking for the right guy, and they think you may be attractive, they’ll flirt with you. But, they don’t ‘get down to it’ for two reasons.
1. girls would rather get to know you better.
2. we don’t want to ‘get down to it’ and end up knowing later we made a huge mistake in choosing the one we love.
‘Why do we beat around the bush?’ Well, when you really really like someone, we girls find it hard to admit.
